School Trips
New York City — Oct., 2025
I was fortunate enough to be selected to join the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department's Fall trip to NYC. A dozen other students and myself traveled around the city, meeting with various startups and individuals. It was inspiring to get to hear the stories and advice of so many seasoned leaders, and the sightseeing was great!
4th & 5th BEIP Workshops — Oct., 2024 & 2025
Morehead City, North Carolina — I have participated in the 4th and 5th annual Creating Solutions in the Blue Economy Workshops. These have been through the Blue Economy Innovation Program, and have been engaging ways to gain interdisciplinary knowledge and experience through various ideation and presentation focused activities.
GE-Hitachi Nuclear Campus — Oct., 2023
Wilmington, North Carolina — As a member of the nuclear engineering department, I was able to attend a guided tour of GE-Hitachi's main nuclear campus. We not only toured the office spaces, but also the plant itself. We were walked through the entire uranium refinement and fuel manufacturing process. We saw the initial powder become enriched, formed into pellets, and finally assembled into massive fuel rods. Getting this behind-the-scenes view into an industry that I'm obsessed with was incredibly rewarding.
Backpacking
I love backpacking treks. They are such exciting and enriching experiences, and I am so thankful for all of the amazing opportunities I have had through Scouts.
Switzerland — July, 2025
Kandersteg, Switzerland — This was my second time staying at the international scout center, KISC. We spent a week going on day-trips, allowing me to revisit and resummit many of the stunning landmarks I had experienced previously. The beauty of the landscapes remained as breathtaking as ever.
Philmont — June, 2023
Cimarron, New Mexico — This trek was rewarding act of redemption for me. I am so thankful for the hardships that we faced, and ultimately, it was an amazing hike. I am glad that I was able to finish a trek with my dad, as he had done with his dad before him.
Northern Tier — July, 2022
Ely, Minnesota — We spent a week canoeing through the Boundary Waters, paddling all day and stopping for the night at various islands and inlets. It was a refreshing and unique experience that I think I would be hard-pressed to recreate anywhere else.
Switzerland & Germany — June, 2022
Kandersteg, Switzerland; Munich, Germany — My dad and I spent a week staying at and hiking around the international scout center, KISC, in Switzerland. We then spent a week out of Munich, visiting several landmarks and castles in the region. The sights I witnessed were some of the most beautiful and awe-inspiring of my life. Experiencing the languages and cultures of other nations was also invigorating in its own way.
Philmont — June, 2021
Cimarron, New Mexico — What would have been a ten day trek through the Southwestern back country was cut halfway short for me when I reinjured a torn labrum in my hip. I was devastated. The time that I had spent out on the trail was filed with such challenging and exciting memories. These pushed me to eventually make my return, and in the time being, this setback propelled me to pursue excellence in powerlifting, seeking my own strength. On the bright side, I was able to have an amazing time with my dad down at basecamp.
Tahosa — July, 2020
Ward, Colorado — Despite COVID canceling our formal camp, we set out on a five day trek through the James Peak Wilderness area. It was a serene and perspective changing experience that opened my eyes to our ability to chart adventures without the need of some overarching organization.
Rocky Mountain High Adventure Base — July, 2018
Rye, Colorado — This camp was the first time I had ever gone on a multi-day backpacking trek. Granted it was only a couple of days, but regardless, I fell in love. Additionally, we went white water rafting and bouldering, which were also both firsts for me.
